How to use the ISTA Rules
Downloading
Please download the PDF files and open them using Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Reader.
Acrobat Reader can be accessed free of charge here: https://get.adobe.com/reader/.
Viewing and Features
When opened, the PDF file should look like this.
Features
- Rules changes are highlighted in yellow
- Summaries of the rules changes next to highlighted text
- Links from contents list to chapters and sections
- Searchable: shift-control-F to open the advanced search

Layers:
- Click to show and hide panel
- Click to show and hide languages and highlighted rules changes
Text available in:
- English - French
- English - German
- English - Spanish
Rules changes
Note: Changes from the previous year’s Rules are highlighted in yellow for all languages but the details of the changes only correspond to the English version.
- Click to show or hide comment panel with rules change summaries
- Click on any summary to jump to its location (precise position in English only)
- Filter comments: click here to show or hide comment icons in rules
- Comment icon: when comment panel hidden, click on icon to view summary
- Click to show or hide highlighting. For printing purposes, it is recommended to hide the highlighting
