Seed Health Proficiency Test

We are in need of contaminated seed lots of these species and pathogens. Any laboratories having contaminated seed lots available for these tests would be very welcome to contribute those seed lots for this purpose.

ISTA Seed Health Proficiency Test for the detection of Alternaria dauci and A. radicina in carrot (Daucus carota) seed samples by malt agar method
 

This is to announce the ISTA Seed Health Proficiency Test for the detection of Alternaria dauci and A. radicina in carrot seeds.

The aim of this proficiency test is to verify the ability of laboratories to detect Alternaria dauci and A. radicina in a sample of 400 seeds. Accredited laboratories are required to participate if they hold a valid accreditation for the ISTA Method 7 001 b and 7 002 b. Laboratories that are not accredited may participate as volunteers.

If you wish to participate, please send your reply to nadine.ettel@ista.ch latest by 18th of March.

Also, please note that when you confirm readiness to participate, you will be expected to report the results.

The samples will be ready for distribution at the end of April 2024 and will be shipped from 20th of May 2024.

Import permit /quarantine permit

Participants are requested to check with their customs authorities what documentation is required to ensure receipt of the seeds and to provide us with these details and documents. Laboratories needing an import/quarantine permit for this test round are kindly requested to obtain the permit before the 1st of May 2024. Samples will only be sent to laboratories that confirm to the ISTA Secretariat that all preconditions for secure shipment have been met.

To obtain an import permit, you might need the following data:

Species: Daucus carota (carrot)
Pathogen: Alternaria dauci and Alternaria radicina
Material: Infected/contaminated seeds
Sample set composition: 12 samples with 3 different levels of contamination
Quantity of seeds/bag: 400 seeds/sample
Untreated seeds: Yes
Net weight (only seeds): 10g/bag
Gross weight (with package): 0.5 kg
Country Origin of Production: France

The ISTA Seed Health Proficiency Test for detection of Aphelenchoides besseyi in rice (Oryza sativa) seed samples
 

This is to announce the ISTA Seed Health Proficiency Test for detection of Aphelenchoides besseyi in rice seeds.

The aim of this proficiency test is to verify the ability of laboratories to detect Aphelenchoides besseyi in a sample of 250 seeds. Accredited laboratories are required to participate if they hold a valid accreditation for the ISTA Method 7 025. Laboratories that are not accredited may participate as volunteers.

If you wish to participate, please send your reply to nadine.ettel@ista.ch latest by 8th of April.

Also, please note that when you confirm readiness to participate, you will be expected to report the results.

The samples will be ready for distribution at the end of September 2024 and will be shipped from 7th of October 2024.

Import permit /quarantine permit

Participants are requested to check with their customs authorities what documentation is required to ensure receipt of the seeds and to provide us with these details and documents. Laboratories needing an import/quarantine permit for this PT are kindly requested to obtain the permit before the 1st of September 2024. Samples will only be sent to laboratories that confirm to the ISTA Secretariat that all preconditions for secure shipment have been met.

Material: Infected seeds

This is to announce the ISTA Seed Health Proficiency Test for detection of Botrytis cinerea in sunflower seeds.

The aim of this proficiency test is to verify the ability of laboratories to detect Botrytis cinerea in a sample of 400 seeds. Accredited laboratories are required to participate if they hold a valid accreditation for the ISTA Method 7 003. Laboratories that are not accredited may participate as volunteers.

If you wish to participate, please send your reply to nadine.ettel@ista.ch latest by 6 th of October.

Also, please note that when you confirm readiness to participate, you will be expected to report the results.

The samples will be ready for distribution at the end of December 2023 and will be shipped from 1st of April 2024.

Import permit /quarantine permit
