NAK (NLDL03) Nederlandse Algemene Keuringsdienst voor zaaizaad en pootgoed van landbouwgewassen
Inspection of seed and seed potatoes is a task governed by law which has been assigned to the Dutch General Inspection Service for Agricultural seed and seed potatoes (NAK) by the Minister of Agriculture, Nature Management and Fisheries. NAK is an independent foundation run by a Board of representatives of breeders, growers and traders. The rules governing inspections are laid down by the 'standing committees' on cereals, foddercrops and seed potatoes. Like the Board, members of the committees are representatives of the industry. This produces a broad basis for the inspections carried out: the producers feel closely involved in 'their own' NAK. It is this construction, whereby the agricultural industry formulates its own requirements, naturally against the background of national and international legislation, which places the Netherlands in an unique position. The quality requirements laid down by NAK can bear comparison with the strictest requirements of any other country.
