In 1993, the Seed Health Committee (formerly the Plant Disease Committee) began development of Guidelines for Comparative Testing of Methods for the Detection of Seed-borne Pathogens. This process has resulted in a complete revision of the method validation process for seed health testing as described in the Handbook of Method Validation (see Method Validation). As part of this process the method descriptions that appeared in the Annexe to Chapter 7 were rewritten into a new standardised format. Each method description is now a fully illustrated, self-contained package that includes full details of the test including media preparation, quality assurance information, pathogen identification and test evaluation. All the methods have been validated and accepted into the Annexe to Chapter 7 of the International Rules for Seed Testing, and have been removed from the Handbook on Seed Health Testing Working Sheets. Method descriptions are available either as part of the International Rules for Seed Testing or as a separate volume. |
