The International Seed Testing Association (ISTA) and Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service (KEPHIS) Seed Testing Laboratory (KEDL0100), Nakuru, Kenya are organising a workshop on Germination, Tetrazolium, Sampling and Statistics to be held in Nakuru from 22nd to 26th November 2010.

The workshop will be engaging seed samplers and laboratory managers who have to monitor seed sampling and want a quality assurance system and quality checks in place in their daily work.
The objective of the workshop is to enhance information in relation to seed sampling, seed testing and statistics and to provide the participants with tools how to implement quality checks and benefit from them. The lectures are based on the ISTA Accreditation Standard, ISTA Rules and Handbooks.

In addition, the workshop is expected to bring together seed experts from public and private seed sector to get new ideas and to share experiences in the workshop’s topical fields. The workshop will cover lectures and/or practical work on Germination, Tetrazolium, Sampling and Statistics.

Additional Information:
Minibuses from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and return at the conclusion of the workshop may be arranged. Participants who wish to travel by Minibus are asked to advise their arrival and departure times at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Cost of the Minibus will be based on the number of participants using the service and will be advised closer to the Workshop.  Should you not wish to utilize the minibus, a taxi from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi to the Seed Testing Station, Nakuru, 155 km away, is approximately 230 USD.
 
The Seed Testing station is about 10km from Nakuru town. Transport during the workshop and from the hotels to the seed testing station will be organized.
 
One day mid-workshop tour of Lake Nakuru National Park and Menengai Crater (one of the world’s largest volcanic calderas) can be arranged but at an extra cost of USD 60.  Applicants interested in the post-workshop tour should indicate it in the Application form.
