CGIAR  Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research
The CGIAR, established in 1971, is an informal association of fifty-eight public and private sector members that supports a network of sixteen international agricultural research centers. CGIAR's mission is to contribute to food security and poverty eradication in developing countries through research, partnership, capacity building, and policy support. The CGIAR promotes sustainable agricultural development based on the environmentally sound management of natural resources.
 
IPGRI  International Plant Genetic Resources Institute
IPGRI is an international research institute with a mandate to advance the conservation and use of genetic diversity for the well-being of present and future generations. It is a Centre of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).
 
IRRI   International Rice Research Institute
IRRI is a nonprofit agricultural research and training center established to improve the well-being of present and future generations of rice farmers and consumers, particularly those with low incomes. It is dedicated to helping farmers in developing countries produce more food on limited land using less water, less labor, and fewer chemical inputs, without harming the environment.
 
ICARDA  International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas
Established in 1977, the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) is one of the 16 centers strategically located all over the world and supported by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). With its main research station and offices based in Aleppo, Syria, ICARDA works through a network of partnerships with national, regional and international institutions, universities, non-governmental organizations and ministries in the developing world; and with advanced research institutes in industrialized countries.
 
ICRISAT  International Crops Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics
The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) is a non-profit, apolitical, international organization for science-based agricultural development. Established in 1972, it is a Future Harvest center of the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), it is one of 16 centers, and is supported by more than 50 governments, foundations, and development banks. ICRISAT has approximately 1200 staff, and an annual budget of about US$ 24 million.
 
CIMMYT  International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center
 
CIAT  International Center for Tropical Agriculture
The International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) is a nonprofit, nongovernment research organization dedicated to alleviating hunger and poverty and preserving natural resources in developing countries. CIAT is one of 16 centers supported by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). The Center has its headquarters at Cali, Colombia, and works at other sites in Latin America as well as in Africa and Asia.
 
SINGER  System-wide Information Network for Genetic Resources
The System-wide Information Network for Genetic Resources (SINGER) is the genetic resources information exchange network of the International Agricultural Research Centres of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). It provides access to information on the collections of genetic resources held by the CGIAR Centres. Together, these collections comprise over half a million samples of crop, forage and tree germplasm of major importance for food and agriculture.
